イノコリ先生ーA HoneyWorks composition (sang by new vocaloid)

Oh god this song made me go back to my HoneyWorks craze.

OHMYGOD this song was a HUUUUUGE pain to translate.

It’s a rather upbeat song, it’s great to listen to, but I think that this song has other meanings. According to my interpretation (why), I think it’s about this guy who likes his older childhood friend, which became his teacher. But the teacher refused to accept his feelings or something like that and blah blah I DONT KNOW. urgh

Also, it’s sang by a new vocaloid called flower, which is apparently a new genderless vocaloid (in voice), though it takes on a female appearance (in the avatar). It’s rather suitable to use this vocaloid for this song.

English translation: (I have quite a lot to say about this)

Do you like Sensei?

(Hai hai hai hai hai~)+

Those who aren’t raising their hands

Will get detention

Will you mind if I stare at you

With this childish expression in my eyes?

I’m different from you

Because I’m an adult…probably.

Don’t count all the quibbles that we had

You’re not a kid

Seriously, don’t underestimate me

Having to find you way out of the roadside

Hey, you can do it! See?

Do you like Sensei?

(Hai hai hai hai hai~)

Those who aren’t raising their hands

Will get detention

Sensei, I hate you

I have a different relationship with you than my friends

According to the majority favour, it’s your win

Sensei, aren’t I amazing?

The homework which I have yet to submit,

Won’t you solve it together with me, just like the good old days?

You said I’m still a kid

And yeah, our height hasn’t changed (?)

I do fall in love,

Because I’m an adult…probably.

Don’t count all the times you acted tough

I’ve already found out about you patching it up

I’m an adult, This moderate distance

Please understand, alright?

Do you like Sensei?

(Hai hai hai hai hai~)

I can’t raise my hand up

It’s just me putting on a façade

Sensei, I hate you

I have a different relationship with you than my friends

According to the majority favour, it’s your win

Sensei, aren’t I amazing?

The homework which I have yet to submit,

Won’t you solve it together with me, just like the good old days?

Always, there are people around you

Always, you’ll be able to make someone smile

I was chasing after, this yearning to be noticed

Always, there are people around you

The things precious to you keep on increasing

If I become precious, I would know the fear of that heat

Do you like Sensei?

(Hai hai hai hai hai~)

to existeth, to be, to s’rveth, to come, to goeth

(to existeth, to be, to s’rveth, to come, to goeth)**

Do you like Classic Japanese lessons?

(Hai hai hai hai hai~)

Those that aren’t raising their hands

Is just me

Unchanging for a 1000 years,

Our encounters and partings, I repeat them

Even at the end of the line,

I’ll add them all up

Sensei, do you hate me?

Even though I had a different relationship with you than the students

According to individual favour, it’s your loss

Sensei, please remember

This distortion in my chest that I have yet to submit

Will you solve it with me?

Welcome home

I’ll be able to smile again

Just like the good old days

+ “Hai” is the romaji for “Yes” in Japanese, in case you didn’t know. I wanted to keep this in the English translation, it would be weird as heck if you sing a continuous string of “Yes”es in that part

* You must be wondering what the heck is this. Okay, this was the hardest part to translate in this song. It’s in Classic Japanese, according to internet sources, and since I don’t study Classic Japanese, I relied on the internet to figure this out for me and this part may NOT be accurate. (I don’t think Classic Japanese is spoken in modern society anymore, it’s a bit like Latin, where we study it, but don’t actually speak it. I’m not really sure about this though, so here’s the wiki) The reason why this line came up in the song is because the teacher teaches Classic Japanese, so it is rather apt. Also, to get a sort of English “equivalent” to this, I decided to use a Shakespearean translator to translate the meaning to Shakespearean English. So this line just means “to exist, to be, to serve, to come, to go”, basically basic phrases (did I just do that).

If you’re wondering, these are my not so reliable resources: http://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q1153774606,

Enjoy, and also check out the artwork of the illustrator of the music PV, it’s so CUTE omg
